Wholesale Fruit & Weg 1996

"Wholesale" was a site-specific exhibition which I took part in in Norwich in 1996. Five artists took over a disused warehouse which had previously been occupied by a fruit and vegetable wholesalers. I filled what had been the cold-store with a series of 18 panels depicting fruit and vegetables, using the existing panels on the walls as a framework for the paintings, which filled the space from floor to ceiling. As well as reviving the previous use of the space, I was interested in how the decorative or aesthetic function in painting related to the display of produce in the market.
